Delhi Shopping: elegant, unique saris and salwars?

Question

Travelling from North America to Delhi for the first time,staying in Connaught Place (recommended by friend), what are some nice shops to find saris,salwars, also handbags and shoes?

Also, the best places to eat, not necessarily expensive and FINE Cuisine, but a place to eat decent food for a moderate price...not looking for restauraunts in the hotels...thanks for the help
