Things of God. The Scriptures. Anything that God is involved in or with is sacred. The institute of marriage before God is sacred. Baptism...Any promise or ceremony before Him is sacred.

What is sacred for one person or group of people can be different than what is sacred for another. It can be a god or gods, a special place of power, a song, or even a sports team for some fanatics.

Sacred is whatever you value the most, which must not be violated, defiled or destroyed. If you can respect what is sacred to someone - even if you don't hold the same beliefs - you have made a lot of progress towards tolerance acceptance and understanding.

"Sacred" is being set apart for a purpose. In term of religion, it is something that you set aside as offering for so-called God.

For example, if you are committed to give an hour every day to pray, it will be the "sacred hour". If you are commited to give livestock (cows, goats, lambs) for offering for your God, it will be also called "sacred". Some tribes in ancient ages even sacred a child to be offered to their gods.

Sometimes you need to do something to the sacred thing so that they may be worthy to be offered. This is called "sanctification" or "purification".

"I believe in everything, nothing is sacred. I believe in nothing, everything is sacred." Sacre Bleu! now that's one serious quote!

"Sacred" is defined as "Entitled to veneration, holy" (along with all its religious overtones). Depending on your view of existence, anything can be considered sacred, or nothing, or better yet, everything sacred and blasphemous at once.

Don't let the religious steal another great concept and pervert it into a meaningless farce. Sacredness is a quality you should be able to see in everything; from the most fleeting emotion to your moisturizing lotion; from the innocence of the child to the malice of the capitalist...own your own devotions, and make holy something new every moment.

Sacred is whatever a society, group, or sect deems holy, divine, and worthy of worship. It is a purely subjective term, as what believers consider sacred is usually not considered sacred by other non-believers.

Sadly, even the concept of religion itself is considered by many to be "sacred", i.e. off limits to inquiry and discussion.

"Among the more irritating consequences of our flagrantly religious society is the special dispensation that mainstream religions receive. We all may talk about religion as a powerful social force, but unlike other similarly powerful institutions, religion is not to be questioned, criticized or mocked."

Dedicated or devoted exclusively to a single use, purpose, or person. and : Worthy of reverence or respect; venerable.
That is what the dictionary tells you what it means.
Cold in descriptive terms, not with any feelings whatsoever, in my view of the word there must be something that means more to you than anything else in the world. The most, and deepest would be the deepest love you have for someone. I don't know of anyother way to put it.

Life is sacred and should never be taken for granted because just when you start to take it for granted it's gone and you will regret words you have said or deeds you have done.

Something or a concept given preferential treatment or reverence by the agreement of those who do so. Two examples: the Koran and it's teachings, the Bible and it's teachings.
