Use the monitor's default resolution for the best results. The most common one's are 800X600, 1024X768, and 1280X1024.
Also try reseting the monitor to its factory defaults.
Good luck!

You can also try changing the DPI setting and the Font Settings to see if this produces something more pleasing for you. These changes are also in the display settings where the resolution settings options are.
Personally 1024x768 is the minimum resolution that I like im on 1280x960 right now but thats just me.

Go to start/contorl panel. Open Display, on the tabs at the top go to Apperance, at the bottom left select Font Size:
Your choices are Normal [proablaly what you have now]
Large [try this one first]
Extra large [if you have a 17" screen or larger this would be ok, but on a smaller monitor it will move all the icons to about 1/4 of scree from the left edge]
For most of the time mine is set to normal, sometimes I have it set to large.
Hope this helps....

You need to adjust the monitor display after resetting the resolution to 800X600.
There should be buttons on your monitor to allow you to adjust the display so that websites will fit on the screen after you change resolution.
Some monitors also have a built in program to do this automatically if you have the manufacturers drivers installed.

Set the resolution back to 1024x768 and click Apply, then click Advanced. In the Display box, click on the 'Change DPI' scroll box and scroll down to 'Large Size (120 DPI)'. Click OK. Click OK again.
If you find that items are still too small, repeat the same process though this time, in the scroll box, click Custom Setting and adjust to taste.

Is the problem just the text? You said "sites" which implies internet browsing. You might want to go back to 1024x768 to ease the latter problem and then open your internet browser's Preferences/Options and up the text size. Also, maybe you just need to get used to the higher resolution.

This happens because your computer is fitting more pixels (little dots that make up an image) into the same screen space.
