Coming from an exterminator, someone answered this pretty well. Clean the yard completely. Take away all harborage and food sources. They will move on. You can also get an exterminator to install spacial bait stations that cannot be accessed by domesticated animals.

Easy:poisoning rat tablets. Just put c couple of trays full of 'em around the house and that should kill them. If not, go up to a local hardware store and purchase sticky boards. Put some peanut butter on them and that should draw them near too. They won't be able to escape easily because the small board is so sticky! =D

Nothing. If you live in a wooded area, near a lake, etc. there will be rats. They really are everywhere. Any you get rid of will be replaced shortly by their offspring. Don't worry about it.
Don't put poisin out as other animals (wild and pets) could be killed from it also. Make sure you don't have any open garbage around.

rats are in your yard because there is something there that they are eating.

Clear out your whole yard. make sure there is nowhere for them to nest
Dont leave any rubbish or foodscraps, dog bowl out the back. Take away any water containers.

Ratsack might kill the ones you have there but more will come if there is something in there they like.

Get some traps. But DON'T USE POISON! it'll kill your or your neighbors cats and dogs too. Rat poison is sweet tasting to attract rats, but because it's sweet it will attract pets too.

Put all garbage in a metal can with a lid. Get moth balls and put them in a glass jar with a metal lid, with holes in the lid; the smell drives them away.
