hello everyone...just curious..i know there are alot of birth controls out there and was just wondering is it too late to start birth control now to skip a period for vacation..bc i am not on any right now... my vacation starts august 11th. my current period came on yesterday...july 13th.... thanks.:)

I think it might be too late. When you start taking the pill continuously to avoid periods, it takes your body a few months to "catch on." In the meantime, you will still get breakthrough bleeding around the time when you would naturally be getting your period.

i was in a similar situation, period started june 1, i got my first dose of Depo Provera on June 4th and within 24 hours the doctor told me i was protected. Well i haven't had a period sense then. But i think each one works different depending on the person. So if you are looking to miss a period i would suggest the shot for now. And if you don't like it then you can change up when that's gone in 3months. So far i enjoy the shot, the only side affect is no period and i seem to be more tired. But that's it for me.

Ortho evra aka the shot. Makes no periods for 3 months, I love it. You have to be on your period to get it the first time.

Birth control pills don't always make you stop your period, they just stop your from ovualting. If you want to stop your period go to your GYN and ask for that type, but it takes more than a month to stop.

It would be better if you will start using any barrier on the first day of your monthly visitors
