Don't stress out! lol/ this is a very normal thing. new born babies are still getting used to the world outside of the womb. now that he/she is drinking formula and not living off of your proteins they will experience different things. Babies will poop a good bit for a while. the stool normally is very soft, sometimes green/yellow and sometimes runney. If the pooping is causing diaper rash(which it might) contact the doctor to notify them. they might tell you to just get some desitine creamy for it or they might prescribe a ointment for on it. but they might only want to get an appointment just to get a sample of the BM. good luck with the parenting and congrats on the new baby! best wishes

You don't need to quit giving breastmilk for that. Your body will start to make more if that is what she needs. Your body is figuring out how much to make during the first four weeks. That is what it is supposed to do. It makes only what the baby requests. Formula is going to cause her more health problems. The mylicon drops are given with feedings, every feeding, and gets rid of tummy gas (swallowed gas) not gas made in the intestines. Why not go back to breastfeeding to fix all these problems? You said you only pump 1-3 ounces, but apparently your baby only wants 2 anyway. A 1 week old needs to eat every 2 hours. At 2 ounces per feeding that is 24 ounces a day, more than enough. She shouldn't be taking in 4 ounces at a time at 1 week old! Less than 2 ounces at a time would be more reasonable. 1-2 ounces, not 4. My twins were on a schedule, and I fed them 10 times a day until they were 4 weeks old. At 2 ounces a feed that is 20 ounces a day, more than enough. I think you are mistaken colic for hunger. Babies don't only cry for hunger. And they always like to suck. That is what they do. If her bottle is feeding her too fast she isn't getting her sucking instinct satisfied. My boys are breastfed and poop once a week.

I think you should consult your dr. But if you think he might have a milk allergy, then I'd try a soy-based formula. Does he spit up a lot? If the milk is bothering him he probably would be spitting up. But, like you, I that's a few too many dirty diapers in one day.

Contact your pediatrician. Your baby could be lactose and tolerant or have a milk allergy and this is what happens if they are.

If he is there is lactate free enfamil he can have.
