have you try tellin him? well if u have something planned for the rest of your life you should tell him. Life is not always about making money, its about enjoying yourself and do as you choose. Since you come from a family with basketball fame, money shouldn't be an issue. You should do what you feel is most appealling.

It sounds like you've come a long way in the sport. You could have a very promising future if you continue to play the sport. Make your dad proud. You'll feel good about it. You might be able to become one heck of a player since your dad was a former pro. You're very lucky to have such a dad that knows the game so well. Most of us don't get this kind of opportunity. Don't let yours go to waste!

im about a year or two older than you, but ill try anyway..
you should talk to your dad about what you would like to do with your future, like others have probably mentioned. he'll probably be sad when he first hears it though because its basketball. if you don't want to play, would you consider helping out a team or the coach? or filling in if someone gets sick. i'm not so sure what its like for you, it could be pretty annoying. if you have something in mind you would like to do instead of basketball, suggest it to your dad and see what happens. remember, the more persuasive you are, the better lol. basketball is fun though, i wish i could play it more often but i dont own a basketball hoop or have much space to even put one up if i wanted to

Find out what you grandfather did for a living and ask him how he might feel if he was pressured to follow in his fathers foot steps
and then try to reason with him to help him understand your position

Just talk to him. If he's the least bit reasonable, he'll understand.
Also, who is your dad
