yeah, i'd go to the doc like the last person said. besides, it's a little harder for you to reach your own cervix especially in your state. the cervix will feel just like a lump (i think so anyway) although since you're having contractions (how many weeks are you?) it should be softened. but i wouldn't go poking anyway, because when your cervix is softened and/or dialated you'll just increase your discharge and you might make yourself bleed a little from bumping your cervix.
good luck.

This site tells you how to do it... I don't know why people freak out about checking your own cervix, they have no problem telling you to have sex! What, do they think that a washed or gloved hand is going to be worse than a penis banging in there? LOL..... Good Luck!

I've never heard of anyone touching to see if they're cervix is dialting,
As far as ur contractions, if they're coming on stronger, faster and longer then u can bet ur most likely going in2 labor, don't worry about the drive it's better to be sure than to wait it out at home.
Good luck

It would not be a good idea to check your cervix at home. If you are concerned that you may be going into labor, it is a good idea to get to the doctor and check things out.
