take computer networking classes and get your certification, or get your associates degree (it'll take two years but be worth it), you can get a business degree, work in radiology in the hospital, talk to your guidance counselor, they should have lots of ideas for you.

Why don't you go to college? What's the rush with wanting to be out in the real world?. Less than year's training will get you nursing assistant, factory training, store manager, um maybe or some other "it's enough to pay the bills" paying job? Think about furthering your education, want big and you will achieve big things. (Architeture, Engineering,) Settle for something more than just an "less than a year" of training. Think about it.

Choosing a job/career should be based on what you like.
Secondarily, on what you are good at; not what pays most.
By definition, the best paid jobs take the most training.
Engineering & Medical are both hot fields, with many options.
But how's your Math & Science skills/grades?
You can't just put in your time & demand big bucks.
Start checking the Job Fairs in your area, find the demand.
Talk to people in those fields, get their perspective.

Massage therapist or esthetician are both a year or less of school, but you have to like it. I hear sanitation engineers (trash collectors) & construction workers in NYC make a great deal of money plus benefits.

i've always heard air traffic controllers can make a lot of money, but i think the certification process takes 2 years, not 1.
there are also a lot of good quick tech programs at community colleges. check out what's available and then check out salries for them at salary.com
