I think there is some truth to that. It's amazing how many police officers are guilty of drug addiction, spousal abuse, wreckless driving, etc. With all the cases of police brutality out there, one really has to wonder.
I can't say that is true for sure, but I do know this: of the people I have known who want to become police officers, all of them have been guilty of breaking or bending the law on numerous occasions, and all of them planned to use their power as public officials to punish those that had crossed them. Many of the hooligans I knew in school grew up to become police officers.
Of course this is not true of all police officers. Don't go away thinking I'm some kind of cop hater. Many of them are good people who simply want to protect their communities and put in an honest day's work.

As a Police Officer, I am sworn to uphold the Law and Protect my community . I take this very seriously and I have since 1988 when I first got into Law Enforcement, however I do believe that our training invokes a diffrent thought and rational process due to the training and type job we have, yes, I do have to think like a criminal and rationalize like a criminal in order to stay one step ahead of the criminal and to investigate crimes. I do not believe that my profile is 85% like that of a criminal but if that is what has made so darn good at what I do, then koodo's to me, it's a rough world out there and every time I get a call It could be my last so if you have a syke test from your friend bring it on i'd be more than happy to take it. Let's all remember though there is I believe 50% good and 50% evil in everyone, it is the person themselves whom will decide which will prevail, maybe I made that decision better than other's. God probably had something to do with that. Sooo, not being preachy or anything but take time to say the pledge this week and while your at it pray for me too and my fellow officer's out there that continue to keep you and other's safe, while we walk the path of a thin blue line.
whether ask or appreciated.

As a retired law enforcement officer let me tell you this. Cops, Police Officers, like you and I are human. we make mistakes, we have errors in judgement but, most of us try and uphold the law and live within the 'rule of Law" those that do not get arrested and are thrown in jail.! do you know that law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard than you are? rightfully so,I might add however, when a law enforcement officer is before a judge, there is no consideration given that you didn't know better. the court will make an example of you and your sentencing is usually must harsher than that of a common citizen.
Do we get big heads? some times and usually at the begining of an officers career, that is why there is a probationary period of at least a year or more to weed out any misfits that got through the selection process.
I would venture to say that most citizens do not want to find themselves alone in an alley at 3:00am in the morning facing some gang banger with a gun, who just pulled off an armed robbery, murder etc. If the officer shoots the "Toad" ! you can bet the "Monday armchair quarter backs" will be there to judge this officers actions, of which he or she had a split second to decide to shoot or take a bullet themselves.
I had a chief of police on time tell me when I was at a hiring interview "Well son, I'd sooner hire someone who is not lilly white, than someone who has been a saint all their lives, It takes one to catch one" Laughing as he said, I was hired after confessing my sins to him.
He was a good chief, would rack your rear end if you screwed up and we do. but, would go to hells gates to back you up if you were right! they don't make chiefs like they used to. Hear that Chief Bratten???
PS: "SLIM SHADY" you are a moron ! You have some typical ganger banger mentality ! next time someones try to kill you, assault you, or violate you in some way, call one of your "Bangers" to help you out ! I bet you're between 18 and 23 years old. grow up !

The traits you refer to are sense of adventure and easily bored, Allot of Cops do what they do because they like the Action and prestige.
Allot also feel they are serving society and have a strong sense of duty.
There are Bad cops out there, as with any other group but they are the exception NOT the rule.

You have got to be kidding me. Have you spent your entire life sitting in a basement watching the news media lie to get ratings and not actually spoken to a police officer? I have known literally hundreds of police officers, and maybe2 or 3 out of that group have been bad people. And they were arrested and put in jail, as they should have been. Just because the news media says something does not make it true. For every negative image you see on tv there are hundreds of thousands more that are very, very good.

Doubtful. Most cops do seem to enjoy the power that comes with the job, but also like to serve the public.

True. This country is in desperate need of officers that want to actually do their job instead of crooks that want to stuff their pockets along the way. The officers enjoy playing with their toys plus assaulting people just before they arrest them.
The law is a joke and the idiots wearing the badges only prove that fact double fold!!!!!!!

I have a friend who swears she saw Jim Morrison and Elvis in the meat department at our local supermarket.
I asked her if she got their autographs.
I love how people always heard this or that from a friend. Show us something to support your claim.

Makes sense to me, I worked with a former officer. He would ask us if we wanted a coke before going to the machine and leave without asking us for change. To find out he was taking it out of the Public monies.
But I have to admit, I also know firemen who are pyromaniacs.
