The USA cannot "lose" the war in Iraq any more than we can "win" the war in Iraq.

We're not one side of the battle. We don't have any agenda, goal or finish line for our efforts. We're there in support of the local Iraq govt. So, while they may 'win' or 'lose', our involvement is purely secondary.

So, it's meaningless to talk about us losing the war, because we don't have anything we're trying to accomplish for ourselves. All we can do is wait around until we think we've done enough.

And since the Iraqi PM announced today that Iraq is capable of taking care of itself, it's obvious that we've done enough and it's time for us to leave.

I am a conserative and I voted for Bush there was no way I could vote for Kerry and I was all for going into Afghanistan
and trying to get bin laden. But the invasion of Iraq I was against, but a lot of democrates were all for it until it started
stalling. I don't think they want to lose the war but the will of
the people is what gets votes. The question is how far are the
American people willing to go to win this war. Our we willing to take out whole countries to rid the world of terrorist should
we nuke a couple to show them we mean business. I don't
have the answers and I'm not sure anybody does.

They really don't, not all of them. The press is largely responsible for the hyperbole and dirt spread on Democrats and Republicans on the war. Each party has their PR machines working overtime, all of the time, to spread their message to an unsuspecting population most of who don't read. These followers of media hype only believe what they are feed by the media. Now the media comes in favors, Talk radio for the most part is for Republicans and newspapers for the most part are for the Democrats. The Internet however is still virgin territory for free thought.

Bingo. You nailed it. It is the only explanation for their insistance that we cut and run. They can't stand the idea of Bush getting any credit for seeing the mission through and establishing a democracy in Iraq.

Yes, and the sole reason Iraq is a "mass graveyard" as one other user put it, it's because the jihadists, and remaining Saddam Loyalists are making it that way.

How do you lose a war that you can't really win in the first place?

Wake up and smell the mass graveyard that Iraq has become, it's lost.
