Bettas are very pretty and are generally low maintenance and are easy to come by. However, any fish will need to be fed more than twice a week, and bettas require a minimum tank size of 1 gallon. I used to have a white cloud minnow and they are super hardy, they can live in cold and warm (not too cold/warm!), they don't require soo much food, (minimum of 3-4 times a week), and they can be kept in small tanks/bowls. They prefer to be in shoals but one of mine died and i only had one left. They live quite long (2-3 years)

You can buy an automatic feeder that will feed 1-3 times a day and you never have to worry about that. You will still need to test water quality and clean the tank every 2-4 weeks. The type of fish doesn't matter as much.

Just about every fish needs some attention, Gold fish seem to do best in the environment you describe. They are cool water fish but they do need a filter and circulation. You could provide a companion or two and an automatic feeder. There are many varieties to choose from, from koi (takes a large tank) to ordinary comets.

Sorry, but any fish needs food more than twice a week...
Really when you keep an aquarium it's more about keeping the water than the fish.
If you get a filtered, heated aquarium you will need about 5 moniyes a day to feed them and then about 30-45 minutes once a week to change 25% of the water in the tank. That's it really. This schedule will work for most any common, community fish you see in pet stores. Take a few minutes and read over this link, it will help you get a better feel for if an aquarium is right for you.

Hope that helps

I don't think there are any fish that can be fed only twice a week. All tropical freshwater fish require a heater (except coldwater fish) and a filter. Weekly water changes of at least 25% are recommended as well. If you don't have the time to feed them and clean the tank, then you shouldn't get fish, or you could make time.

It depends on what you want. you can go to petsmart or petco and pick out just about anything. just make sure you get a sucker fish. it will keep your tank clean. the easiest fish are beta (you can only have one) and goldfish you could also do mollys or barbs or guppies just if you do anything other than goldfish or a beta you need a heater and any fish i would make sure you have a filter. it both clean and provide oxygen to the fish

I fully agree with the response above me. You don't have enough time to spend with them? Why would you get them. Even bettas need care and regular feedings and a clean tank for a healthy life.Forget about fish until you can give them the proper attention.

if you have space try some cichlids...there very hardy and fun to watch. check out a convict or a jack dempsey. some people like oscars they can get relatively large. african cichlids are awesome but require a little more attention. beta's dont have much personality to me....good filtration system is the key....

Beta would be good. You can put them in small places and don't have to worry about them that much. You just can't have more then 1 Beta together
Guppies are good but they multiply fast. I started out with 5 and when I finialy was done with fish (because I was preg. and couldn't stand the smell even though everyone said they couldnt' smell them... lol) which was about a year or 2 after I got the first 5 I had 300 and then some.
