The bird was once seen while driving on a remote country road near a small church. It looked like a hawk or eagle, but I didn't know there were white ones. It could have been an owl, but it was daytime.

In many a folklore a white bird symbolizes your spiritual Guidance. The bird did slow your progress a bit; perhaps it saved you from a collision, perhaps not, yet I believe it is worth an investigation in a meditation or a day dream to find out, good luck!

Its a sign of marriage, if it is a dove or white pigeon,for an eagle hawk or any bird of prey it is misfortune, to see an owl on the day time means death. different types of birds have different meanings.

Animal symbolism is based on your own experience. An Owl to you might mean something much different then it would mean to me. For me, an Owl represents my boyfriend, whose totem is an Owl, and appears in my dreams as such. To you, it would be different. An Owl during the day is not unheard of, but rare enough that it would not surprise me at all if it were some kind of sign or omen, relating to the death of your family member (my condolences). Perhaps it is symbolic of your loved-one's soul flying free to the afterlife.

A dove or a pigeon, some white owls will fly in the day...If they are hungry enough they will hover for their prey. even if there is a car around

It was probabky an egret and the significance is that you have a 50-50 chance of your car getting **** on.

i once saw a predominatly white hawk a couple of years ago, by the time i got stoped and my camera out and ready to get some pics it was ofcourse gone.

For me, that's usually an indication that I've just washed my car...and that it's about to be dirtied again by that damn bird flying over it.
