I know it's stupid. I really need to know for college though and map-quest was pissing me off.

You need to know for college......you mean to get in to college or you are already in college?
In either case you should already know how to look at a map and figure out the distance without Map Quest

It's about 170 miles from the east side of Nashville over to Knoxville's west side by Farragut - add a few miles on each end to get into town.

2.5 hours along I-40 East from Nashville, to Knoxville. The mileage is approximatey 177 miles, according to my GPS.

About 180 miles, from center of Nashville to center of Knoxville.

It depends on the traffic and all. When I went to Knoxville to visit a friend and then went to Nashville, it only took me about 1 and a half.
