I totally agree with Patrick B.
The Bears are being very under estimated this year. Sounds ridiculous because they are defending NFC Champs but seriously, when you watch ESPN analysts making their predictions and you read some of these answers here on Yahoo, how many predicitions have any of us seen the Bears returning to the Super Bowl? Maybe 1 or 2, and I guarantee it was a Bears fan.
Ok, they lost Tank and Briggs is going to be out for 6-10 games. But, they regain Tommie Harris and Mike Brown, further solitifying them as the top D' in the NFL. They without a doubt have the best special teams with Robbie Gould and Brad Maynard, along with an electric return man in Hester to go along with great blockers.
Their offense took a shot losing Thomas Jones, but this now gives Benson a shot to show what he can do, he his a beast of a runner and can occasionly make some receptions out of the backfield. And to help him, they have 1 of the top 5 O-Lines in the NFL (and anyone that knows anything about football would back that up, even are so called ESPN analysts). Those 5 are the only reason Thomas Jones finally had success in his career. He's a good back no doubt, but anybody needs a good O-Line to function. Greg Olsen should make an impact right away, he is a definate upgrade over Des Clark. Rex should improve now with more experience so expect more consistency.
I really can't see why these guys aren't getting more hype.

My Top 5 overcriticized teams:
5. Pittsburgh. Big Ben will get to throw more and make calls at the line. Comfort zone here means these aren't Bill Cowher's troops any more.
4. Detroit Lions. All they have to do is play average defense and they will be a possible playoff team.
3. New York Jets. How do you underestimate a playoff team from last year? The Jets can control the clock with their running game and Chad Pennington's accurate darts. Like Detroit, success will come from improvement on defense.
2. Arizona. They won't be the cellar team this year. Maybe Seattle will! Ken Whisenhunt will find the key to the run game in the heat. And thank the schedule for some cream puff pass defenses after week 4.
1. Miami. Trent Green is back in his old system. Ronnie Brown and Lorenzo Booker's effective running behind the underrated O-line are going to protect Green from another head bashing. Defensively, all Zach Thomas, Joey Porter and Jason Taylor need are a reason to believe they can win.

The most underrated team this year is the New York Jets. People don't realize how just good that offense is, and Chad Pennington may not have the best arm, but his arm is good enough to make all the right throws to the right people, and it got them ten wins last year in a competitive division. Also, the Jets went out and grabbed Thomas Jones, a tough runner who gives them a consistent threat in the backfield. The Jets defense is good enough to keep the game close, and that offense appears poised to break into the playoffs, with the leadership and decision making of Pennington, the determined running of Thomas Jones, and two 1,000 yard receivers from last year in LaVerneuas Coles and Jerricho Cotchery. Certainly, this Jets team is the only club that rivals the Patriots as far as firepower is concerned in the AFC East.

St. Louis Rams
Another year under Scott Linehan will help. S Jackson is emerging as one of the best running backs in the league. Brian Leonard was on of the most versatile players in the draft and is very under-rated. They drafted a DE (Carriker i think is how you spell it) to pair will L Little to hopefully fix their pass rush problem. Bulger is top 5 QB in the league and their 3rd WR is a former 1000+ yard receiver and is a great red zone threat (Drew Bennett). Line-backing core has been imporved through free agency and the corners have been helped from previous drafts.
thats my thoughts and i am not even a fan of the rams

It's NOT going to be the 49ers considering EVERYONE expects them to be better this year. I'm going to say it'll be the Lions... they don't have the world's greatest defense but even last season they had an explosive offense and that was when they only had Roy and Mike Williams to throw to. Kitna finished the season 5th in passing yards and now that he has Calvin Johnson lining up opposite of Roy Williams... I think he'll do it again if not throw for more. Not to mention they picked up Tatum Bell to take turns with Kevin Jones. I'm not saying playoffs but I think the Lions are going to be a lot better this season then last.

The Houston Texans because they're starting to put the defensive puzzles in place, as well as on offense. They got great depth at the RB position with Green, Dayne, and Lundy, and Gado, and finally got the QB they have been looking for, and have some momentem leading into the season for finally beating the Colts and will now have some more confidence. Also, I think Gary Kubiak is alot more comfortable being in Houston now.

hub has the best answer because the nfc east is a tougher division than the nfc north. granted the north made some amazing picks in the draft, but they are still a step behind. the skins have an insane 1-2 punch with portis and betts, they have randel el and moss plus they drafted leron landry. most people still think they will only be fighting for third in the division, when they could sneak a wildcard and a first round playoff win.

Tampa Bay. Cadillac Williams will have a good offensive line and a quarterback for the defense to worry about. This means opposing defenses will have to worry about the passing game this year. They also have a younger faster defense, Cato June was the Colts leading tackler last year, plus Tampa has the best defensive coach in the league.

i think the Buffalo Bills are the underestimated team in the NFL this year. They have a hard nose RBthis year with marshawn lynch and an extremely tall and fast LB with Paul Posluszny. i think the bills go down in the first round of the playoffs in a 4th quarter shocker.

To me the underestimated team of this season is going to be the Cardinals they were such a young team last year and that o is going to be like the rams of yesteryear.
