Once upon a time it was suggested that a nursing mother drink beer to help with production, but recent studies indicate that alcohol actually inhibits let-down. While it's ok to drink in moderation and responsibly, the ingredients in beer that may help milk production (grains, specifically hops) can actually be gotten elsewhere. Grains, like the hops and barley used to make beer, can be eaten in cereals, bread, grain salads, cookies, etc. Some mamas swear by a bowl of oatmeal.
The links below can help explain it all :)

No where does it say on the LLL website that beer will help increase your supply, but I have read this in books before. Fenugreek is suppose to really work wonders for increasing your supply if that is what you are after , which you can buy in capsules or to make tea with. Nursing more frequently of course is the surest way.
I've read that alcohol is a way for the breastfeeding mother to relax. We are talking about small quantities, not a few glasses. Stress can inhibit the let-down reflex, so a drink can help mothers unwind a bit before nursing. Just so no one think I'm crazy here: Dr. Jack Newman, member of the LLLI Health Advisory Council, says this in his handout "More Breastfeeding Myths": Reasonable alcohol intake should not be discouraged at all. As is the case with most drugs, very little alcohol comes out in the milk. The mother can take some alcohol and continue breastfeeding as she normally does. Prohibiting alcohol is another way we make life unnecessarily restrictive for nursing mothers.

It's the hops. Very high in B vitamins. Generally, gals will feed the baby and then drink the beer. It's mostly out of her system by the time she feeds again. There was some commentary that you could get hops without the alcohol content, but Brewer's Yeast is the only thing I can think of.

It does have some natural ingredients but watch out what you drink. You should only really have no more than one a day. I like tecate because it is natural. I'm about to breastfeed my 4th and from experience you should not drink too much, the baby does get everything. I don't think it produces more though. Always drink right after you feed the baby then try to express some in the shower before you feed again. Your body produces what the baby needs. If she feeds often, you will produce more. Eventually she will feed not so much, then you will only produce what she needs. If you go out with the girls or something and you drink more than one, you really should express most of it out before you feed again. Don't forget to take your prenatals. Jennifer

It seems to help me. I will drink one beer two or three times a week and I think it helps with my milk production. I exclusively pump so it can be difficult to keep up my supply. I think it helps because beer is a carb. Also he fact that a little alcohol can help you relax and thus reducing stress. Stress is a key reason that women have milk supply issues. So just drink one and it might help. Also- dark beer seems to work a little better.

Kellymom.com is a good source for breastfeeding info..
http://www.kellymom.com/health/lifestyle/alcohol.html Theres the link on alcohol. Its okay to have 1-2 drinks as long as you wait a few hours to BF again. Not sure if alcohol actually stimulates production or not...
If you think your production is low try drinking "mothers milk" tea- its made with herbs that stimulate milk production..

Beer once was recommended to new mothers for that reason, but the doctors feel differently these days. Drinking water should help too, without the alcohol.

From what I understand you should not consume more than one glass of wine a day while breast feeding I think you better ask your Dr. about this one I don't think it would be a good Idea .

It is true, but you should only drink half of one so your baby doesn't get too much alcohol.
