Altitude, the greater the distance from the central mass, the lower the gravitational attraction. So if you raise the barrel a foot--it'll be lighter. Raise it into orbit and it'll be weightless. You can see the barrel for quite some distance but you can't determine the weight.

this is a un answerable question it mainly depends on what it is filled with .and there is no refrence to this mater. if it is filled with air what wieghs less ?
