The only type there is: Rock and Roll. I have been into music, especially old Rock and Roll, since the late 60's and the 70's. I own over 750 old vinyl long playing albums, also called LP's. I have other types of music, in my collection. I have some outlaw country, very little disco and some acid rock. Most of it though, is the old style Rock. It varies on the style. I love to listen to the old bubble gum music (pop) and I groove to guitar rock. I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking. I love the music. Rock on, and Peace!

Mainly classical, and rock. I have around 100 CDs of classical music, and my favourite composers are Holst (15 CDs), and Arnold Schoenberg (12 CDs).
My rock music collection is mainly Elektra label stuff from the 1960's, and most of these have been reissued on CD. I also have albums by Pink Floyd, The Byrds, The Beatles, Genesis, Them, Nirvana (the 60's one), Honeybus, Graham Nash, and Spirit.

Sub-genre: American hardcore punk (80s) - hard, fast and melodious. It's punk rock ground, but the lyrics deal more with alienation and coming-of-age than elitism or rebellion, which I never really gave a sh*t about (British punk). The average person can identify more with a Black Flag record than a Sex Pistols one. The scene was so expansive and diverse, Husker Du, Minutemen, Nomeansno, Butthole Surfers, Black Randy, Violent Femmes etc. It basically formed the foundation for alternative rock: for example, the Pixies' sound is completely derivative of Husker Du. Pop-punk was also heavily influenced by the scene - the concept of 'selling out' i.e. making it was actually something a lot of the bands aspired to.
Genre: metal, probably. Including heavy metal, thrash metal, death metal, black metal, prog/power metal and alternative metal - everything but glam metal basically.

mainly progressive rock, from 1966-1979. I have almost every Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin Album. I like progressive rock because A) the songs are usually really long, B) the critics hate it, C) the songs are usually very complex and have deep meaning, D) they usually tell stories, E) most of teh bands you probably haven't heard off (referring to my peers)

I listen to a lot of alternative.
I like alternative because some lyrics are so deep, and it's just easy to listen to.
