i would say yes, for some peace might mean a lack of fighting/argueing, for others it means a deeper resolution of problems and shows of respect

so that family sitting around the holiday table, being civil , ignoring issues for the sake of appearance , might to some represent a peaceful setting, and to others a nerve wracking one

I think that when you have come to terms with life and yourself, there is a peace in the mind - from which one can observe the world, fully engaged but without the commotion of simple reaction. Buddhists strive for it, and many accomplish it - such as the Dalai Lama and others I've met. It allows them to see and hear clearly, and respond appropriately. For the eye of the beholder to truly see, it must be cleared of motes, beams, projections, and preconceptions. That's why I oppose religions - which neither Buddhism, Confucius, are. They are mind-training. Too little of that about.

Peace is never in the "eye" of the beholder. I must reside in the soul. Some persons are born with an internal solitude comparable to peace but for peace to be born it must grow from the soul.

I don't think so...peace is just that, peace. Problem free life. Nothing can be more objective than that.
