I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado v6 4.3L engine and wanted to change the transmission fluid, but some people say that you are not supposed to chage it. Is this true or is there a specific type of fluid to use?

If you have over 100,000 miles, the manual recommends changing. Instead of doing it yourself, which isn't really hard, I would get a full tranny flush at a shop. Instead of just changing what is in the tranny pan, this flushes out the trans. cooler and lines, as well as the torque converter, which holds alot of fluid.

the newer model trans are sealed,no need to change it,but there is a way ,there are two plug on the side of trans ,remove lower plud to drain top plug is fill hole, after draining ,install plug, fill untill oil is at the top of the top hole, you will need a squirt bottle to put oil in ,..p.s its a pain in the butt.you can change yours like regular way.if you got a dip stick, mine is a 8.2 and it is recomended change and filter replacement which has the drain plug on the bottom of pan.yours may be the same
