Depends upon your own beliefs on the one hand and the quality of a candidate on the other.

Republicans believe in a small domestic government, with a strong international military presence. They tend to stick to existing christian belief systems and the most extreme can be very narrow minded when it comes to other life choices. Many republicans also believe that all citizens should bear the tax burden equally, and that you shouldn't be punished for being wealthy. The GOP (grand old party, another republican nickname) has most recently been associated with wealthy, white Anglo-Saxon protestants.

Democrats believe in a large domestic government with many programs for social service while having a reduced military. Democrats embrace many different life paths as morally acceptable. Democrats believe that the wealthiest people should pay the largest burden of the taxes as they have more money to afford. Democrats are often associated with minority, other religious and life path minorities.

I honestly think that these two parties have picked about 15 points to be polar opposites on but are otherwise essentially the same. They lock down politics in a two party system which insures that all the money from the government and the lobbies stays within their two parties. The both scoff at the constitution and are consistently breaking the tenets found there. Unless a viable 3rd party arises soon, i think politics in this country will only become more corrupt and less about representing the people as much as their own self interests.

How about asking: Republican, Democrat, or Independent? We have so many choices in life, but when it comes to who runs our government, we really have only A or B. Since both parties are controlled by the same powers and influences, they are of little difference. I believe that the American citizen is finally realizing that we need alternatives. We need to break the deadlocks, and address the real concerns that plague our country and our world.

Unfortunately, our political process weeds out be best by letting dollars decide who gets a chance at your vote. Ask yourself: Have you seen your life improve with either a Democrat or a Republican? And, has an alternative choice ever had the chance to prove itself?

I believe that Democratic policies are much more "people friendly" over all that Republican Policies have been. I can't think of too many great & big ideas have come from Republican administrations--since Lincoln.

It's this whole "red team" vs "blue team" mentality that really confuses me. First off, both are for large government, we know that because the size of the gov has increased under Bush more than with Clinton. The truth is both parties consist of power hungry beurocrates who want your money so they can spend it on society in ways that they think is best. They want to control your life, They don't trust the you will do what is best with your money so they will do it for you.
Shouln't people have their own ideas and think for themselves rather than shelter themselves under a convienient little umbrella labeled "democrat" or "republican".
Stop watching biased news media and talk show hosts who cover the candidates who have the most money and start thinking for yourselves. This whole "I like candidate "A" because he's with this party" or "I like candidate "B" cause she's with this party" makes me sick. I encourage people to search for the truth and form their own opinions and step outside of the red team vs. blue team box.

neither - LBJ lead us to viet nam - did the same things bush did w/o gutting the constitution.

bush did what LBJ did and gutted the constitution - try to get rep or dem to ever return the constitution back to its intentional form - a more appropriate question might be what foreign language do you speak and are their jobs for you there - this country has been baked by both parties.

our elected officials are nothing short of royalty and are completely out of touch with the needs of its constituency.

It all depends..If you earn less that $100,000 a year vote Democrat (They vote for you). If you earn more than $100,000 per year vote Republican (they vote for you).

But be sure to vote !

Neither. Both parties have proved to be cowards. Now if you want to rephrase to "Which is the lesser evil", it would have to be Republicans. At least they believe in something, even it they mess it up.
