The album is "Abbey Road" by The Beatles and the picture shows the fab 4 crossing the zebra crossing outside EMI's Abbey Road recording studios in London. Yes it is a very popular tourist site with many people causing traffic chaos by having their pictures taken on the crossing. Now that you know what the album is, go and find a copy and give your ears a treat!

The album is Abbey Road (1969), just outside the studios in Abbey Road, London.
At the time there was a scam going around claiming that Paul Macartney was dead. John Lennon, in white was said to be the priest, Ringo the funeral director, and George dressed in denims was said to be the undertaker. Paul was in bare feet, and walking 'left footed' across the zebra crossing, out of step with the other Beatles, signifying he was dead. So the album cover was said to have a double of Paul, which of course was not true.
What also fuelled this 'Paul is dead' idea is that the back cover of Sgt Pepper (1967) shows Pauls' back, as he stands in front of John, George and Ringo. That was an actual waxwork figure because Paul could not be at that particular photoshoot. The yellow flowers on the front cover were said to spell 'Paul?'
On the Abbey Road album cover the white volkswagen parked further up has the registration LMW 281F. This was interpreted as the age, 28 years old, that Paul was if he had died.
On the back cover of Abbey Road, one of the road name letters has a crack in it, and this was thought to mean The Beatles splitting up.
Of course Paul was not dead, as after The Beatles split up he had a very successful career with a new band, Wings, and after that had success as a solo artist, and continues to record and perform to this day.

As they say...Abbey Road.
It is in the St John's Wood area of London and although the road markings have changed, the site is mostly the same.
Although you can't quite see it on the album cover, there is a low wall outside the EMI studio that is covered in graffiti. About once a year it is painted over so that a new lot can be painted on it!
The area frequently has tourists and fans visiting.
Lords Cricket Ground is about a ten minute walk away from there, and Paul McCartney still has a house nearby in Cavendish Avenue.
