There are different contexts for the term storage.

Physical storage can be for anything, parts supplies, unused equipment and furniture, records. This storage can be on the premises of the business or off premises like with a storage company that sells storage compartments.

Electronic storage which is the storage of electronic data on electronic media like disk drives and CD's and other forms of electronic storage or these days storing them electronically some place else via the internet.
