It's tempting to think that your solution would make everything better, but let's face it, the smaller the country, the more vulnerable it is to its neighbors. Do you think it would have been better to let the South secede from the North in America? Instead, one had to give in to the other and THEN they could talk about negotiating how to live together. The same is true for WWII. That is how it has been forever...the aggressor in a war inflicts it's will upon the weaker...and only then could discussions of how they could live peacefully together could go on.

Do you really think that a (former Iraqi) Sunni nation would reside happily next door to a (former Iraqi) Shiite nation and a (former Iraqi) Kurdish nation? Of course not, they would start attacking each other in order to convert them to their brand of Islam. One way or the other, the three sects have to be FORCED to live together.

It is the obvious best solution, but the majority Shias and neighboring Turkey, do not want it. And we cannot upset the Turks can we? We may need them in the next war against some one.

Disagree: The only way to stop the bloodshed in Iraq is to give the country to Iran and start an insurrection.

Only one way to stop the bloodshed in Iraq. Some how bring Saddam back from the dead. He seemed to know how to keep Iraq in line.

What would be the point. The fighting will never end. The US is only adding to the death toll by being there.
