Tough question : .That area of America is surprisingly devoid of good lodgings and restaurants. You're probably best off staying in the Cortez CO / MesaVerde NP area
It would help quite a bit if I knew where you were coming from and going to.
Edit 1
Four Corners to Bryce is 5 hrs using mostly 2 lane roads ???? No
Edit 2
As long as we're on the subject of roads .Numerically about only twenty percent of the actual accidents in AZ happen in rural areas But 80% of the fatalities resulting from auto accidents occur in rural areas. An accident that you would easily survive in a big city will easily kill you in rural AZ /UT/CO/NM . The reason is simple : very few hospitals w/ sugical & trauma capabilty and huge distances between them + a lot of places where cell phones simply won't work.
The single most common cause of accidents is drivers mis judging the speed and distance of an oncoming vehicle when they legally pull out into the oncoming lane to pass another vehicle.
Natives drive to the right so that three vehicles fit into a space meant for two.
The second most common cause of accidents is live stock. It's open range : Fences keep things out ,not in.

The Holiday Inn Express in Cortez, Colorado, is a great place. The owners add a few extras, and there are some specially decorated rooms. It's well-maintained and reasonably priced.

The hotel is very convenient to Mesa Verde National Park, which is quite nice. There isn't much around the Four Corners themselves. There are a couple of hotels around Monument Valley, which is worth the drive but is isolated.

if you are going to bryce canyon on your journey, check out ruby's inn (www.bestwestern.com/rubysinn). the hotel is awesome, there's a great lake for fishing, there are real indian teepees, 3 restaurants, an old western town where kids can pan for gold, etc. and more. it is a great place for kids. it is about a 5 hour drive from the actual four corners but it is totally worth it. i did a 10 day camping trip in the 4 corners region a few years ago - it was one of the best trips of my life! good luck and have fun!

It really depends upon where you're coming from or heading to. As others have noted, there really isn't much in Four Corners. Farmington, NM is about 50 miles away (southeast of Four Corners). There's a Best Western in Farmington. Cortez, CO is about 50 miles northeast. Monticello, UT is about 100 miles north ... there's a Best Western in Monticello.
