...it's almost like an unconscience primal facination....sort of like when traffic backs up on the highway, due to an accident, and the majority of the drivers slow up at the scene of the crash, to see the wreck.....and the possible bloody carnage!!!

...it's a contradictory, hypocritical catch-22 type of thing, psychologically; we stretch our necks out to gawk, out of insatiable curiosity and interest, knowing full well that we might just see something we really don't want to see, and then shrink back in shock and disgust, when we actually see what we really didn't want to see.....and then, on a moment's notice, we turn around and do it all over again!!!

...in watching these 'torture/death' horror films, this observation is quite similar; you can bet that there WILL be more of thse films, providing that the money-grubbing filmmakers and producers continue to exploit this observation.

Good question. I would like to know that answer too. I have a hard time watching these types of films. I call Saw and Hostel reality horror. There are some real sick Phuks out there who can do stuff like that. I prefer fantasy horror like Hell Raiser,
Blade, Underworld. You know,vampires,werewolves,
zombies(not so much).

People seem to think that horror is only death and dismemberment, or the Freddy's and Jasons, but it is more than that. all of our fairy tales we grew up with had elements of horror. it has just been dumbed down to add elements of nudity, sex, and gore because the writer didn't have enough imagination. when one is written well, i'm first in line to see it.

most horror lovers don't watch to see people get hurt. we watch to see how people survive the situation. we actually appreciate when a writer makes the characters smart enough to figure out a way out of thier predicament.

Well its not the killing that i like it is the thrill of being scared by what might happen next because i am very easily scared and plus i use it to teach my kids of what kind of sick people are out there in the world today and that stuff like that could happen..so not all people like them for the sick things that happen in them
