The GTP has a 3800 V6 and is capable of taking more punishment than the 3400. Also, you're looking at a stronger tranny. I suggest you try to drop a 3800 into your car, which has been done many times, and check into the specs on your transmission vs the GTP tranny. Also, check into superchargers. I'm sure there is one that might be more compatible to your 3400. Check out this link http://www.eatonperformance.com/superchargers/superchargers.html Eaton makes solid superchargers with plenty of models to choose from for a 3400 engine.
If all else fails, put in a cold air intake and invest in a PCM or superchip (stage one for your car without mods). That will give you a significant boost in HP. Good luck!

RE:
Will a GTP Supercharger work in my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE?
I have a Pontiac Grand Am SE with a 3400SFi V6 engine, and would like to put in a supercharger or a turbo. I figured the cheapest way would be to put in a Pontiac GTP Supercharger in my car. I was wondering if anyone knew if this would work?

answer 1. no you didnt. they dont match up. its not possible to do. you could have supercharged your GA, but not with a 3800 supercharger.
answers 2 and 3. WRONG. stock internals can handle a supercharger, or a turbo. the only thing you might want to upgrade is the fuel injectors, but its not a must. as far as the tranny goes, lol. there are grand ams with 300 horsepower and there yet to break the stock tranny.
ok, back the the question. no you cant do it. sorry. you "could" swap the 3.4l out for a 3.8l. however that is a TON of work, and has only been done in 1 car that i can think of. is it possible? yes. is it practicle? no. not if your car is a daily driver.
so what can you do? you can buy something you didnt even know they made.
a 3400 supercharger

or turbo

bolt on, and have fun. good luck

Only the L-67 engine is built for the eaton gen3 and gen4 supercharger those engines are 3.8 liter... The 3,400 is different. That said you could modify a 3,400 to use a turbo or different supercharger. Cheepest way trade your SE in and drive away in a low mile example GTP Clubgrandprix.com

A stock Grand Am engine can't handle a supercharger or turbocharger. You would need to make many modifications and also get forged internals. Even if you got the engine to a point where it could handle a supercharger the transmission would crap out b/c it wasn't made to handle all the extra power.

Well, I can tell you that I put one in my 2004 Grand AM GT. I'm not familiar with the changes pontiac has made since 2000 though.
