compassion allows you to be used, and ripped off.
but it is not a weakness for you are the one who can sleep at night, guilt-free. Compassion makes you feel good about yourself, and allows you to hold your head up high. if being ripped off a few times in the price, then is dignity not worth the price?
People will love you for being compassionate, even if you do get used, others will step forward and help you out, can we say the same about someone who simply uses others?
Compassion is a strength. for what it gains cannot be bought.

Compassion is a weakness you create in yourself for the sake of the whole. It's a gift that requires tremendous strength, courage and diligence to maintain. If you can learn to be compassionate of others but not blind to their shortcomings, you will get hurt much less and realize who you can help and who you can't.

Compassion is an emotion and all emotions just are. Whether we act upon that compassion is the issue. It seems from my experience that only the strong can afford to act on compassion. I don't mean physical strength or financial strength but a strength in their character, a confidence in themselves to let go enough to allow themselves to reach out to strangers to aid in the relief of suffering and embrace the rejected souls of society.

it's not a weakness if you are compassionate towards yourself also. People don't necessarily need what they are asking for, true compassion is to give what they really need.

It is an incredible strength. Especially in the face of someone that will use your giving nature to their gain. You must have the courage to keep giving to others and not judge all people by the ones that have hurt you.

Depend on the situation. You should help people in need but when they take advantage of you, you have to be strong and say no. One of my relative borrow money from me, later I found out he used that money for gambling purpose. So next time he came begging, I turn him away.

It's a good thing to be kind, my friends take advantage of me sometimes, but i know they appreciate me for what I do. But as the wise one i recommend being nice but don't let them have control of your life and talk you into things you don't want to do. :-)

No. If you still have compassion for them then you are much, much stronger. Have confisence and don't let them take advantage of you. Use your compassion against them.

Actually, it's a sign of wisdom. However, in a society as dysfunctional as ours, where hypermaterialism, greed, insensitivity, cuthroat competition., and homocide as a means to success in numerous enterprises, are endemic, it would appear to be, eh?
But, then, mainstream society is about 180 degrees off course in most areas, is it not? :))
