I know not all conservatives can be as erudite as say, William F. Buckley, but why does George W. Bush always come off sounding so unsophisticated? He rarely speaks in anything beyond vague generalities and when asked a difficult question he falls back on empty rhetoric to cover for his lack of specifics.

But beyond that, he seems to have a great deal of difficulty with basic English grammar.

Yes, yes, we all know the Democratic party is also full of empty-rhetoric spewing, status-quo supporting politicians.

But I want to know what your opinion is regarding Bush's apparent speech problem.

Some people have suggested it is typical of individuals with a history of alcohol and/or drug abuse. Others (including myself) have posited that the man is simply incurious.

What do you think (not feel, but THINK)?

Solipsism: NOUN: Philosophy 1. The theory that the self is the only thing that can be known and verified. 2. The theory or view that the self is the only reality. - The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000

Oxymoron: "Bungling Boob Bush" and Bushlexia, a combination of dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, apraxia, illiteracy, ignorance, laziness, passive-aggressiveness, inappropriate humor, dysfunctional thinking, dysfunctional behavior, and an arrogant attitude of privilege, with a 91IQ, 51 General Intelligence, 6 times business failure, and goal of becoming a "World Nazi Dictator"!

When the evidence finally emerges about the real identity of the masterminds behind the events of September 11th, it seems hard to imagine that George W Bush Jr, along with a sizeable contingent from his entourage and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will be able to escape impeachment for what could justifiably be termed Slaughtergate 911. Particularly when linked to the collapse of Enron, the possible winding up or “shredding” of Arthur Anderson and as the basis for the sequel to the movie ‘Wag The Dog’, for, as someone quite rightly remarked – The Plot Sickens.

"A government which protects people from tyrants and killers may have a legitimate reason to exist. A government which imprisons people to 'protect' them from themselves is a government of tyrants and killers." ---- Unknown

George Bush is not terribly intelligent. It's not an insult, or partisan dig, just an observation. Too many times have I watched him stare blankly at a reporter, shifting his weight, stuttering and stammering before spitting out some empty talking points for it to be chalked up to poor public speaking skills. When his speeches are written for him, he speaks just fine. When he's required to answer unplanned questions, he has nothing intelligent to say.

I think you are right that he does not do well with public speaking. Big deal! I think he gets nervous when speaking in public and that hinders him alot. Just because he cannot articulate well when speaking in public doesnt mean he is dumb. I personally believe he is pretty smart and if we are going to measure a person's charachter, intelligence and honesty solely by how they speak in public we are in a lot of trouble. Slick willy (Bill Clinton) was a great public speaker but thanks to him they didnt take out Osama bin laden when he had the chance. He didnt do anything after the attack on the USS cole.

None in any understand. What those terrorists want is that u . s . pulls out of the middle East, and that u . s . stops helping the State of Israel altogether. Terrorists are thoroughly insensitive to token gestures like electing a President with an Arabic-sounding call.

Bush ran as the dumb candidate, his scholastic records and behavior especially in his college years reflect that. I believe he has been swept along by others that he associates with rather than his own ability. This is probably due to his family's wealth and fame. He was elected not because of his abilities but because he wasn't a democrat.

I think Bush speaks like that because he is pandering to his base. You have to remember he is one of the elite in this country he comes from a super wealthy family and went to the best schools. He is not a hick, he just sounds like one so that the ignorant who support him feel like he is one of them. He does it to make himself easily relatable to some people.

The majority of Americans already don't listen to him speak. If he used sophisticated terms, that man7y more would change the channel.

The goal, I would think, is to get people to listen not turn them away with, well, boring politics 5 percent of the population actually understands.

I think Congress should order Bush to take a on the record physical, he has not taken a on the record one in six years in office. He has a medical problem and the Congress should demand to know it. The people have a right to know it.

I am a Republican, and every time I see him give a speech or if the news has a picture of him on the screen, all I can think about is the monkey bashing the symbols. Do you remember the monkey? lol
