Yes, it is sort of a unisex term for a waiter or waitress. They use the term because of political correctness.

Generally serves get paid very little. Most times it is under minimum wage and you must rely on tips to make up for the lack of wages.

If you get into a good restaurant and become a good server, you can actually make a decent amount of money.

It's hard work, but worth it if you like it and you can make money at it.

Yes a server is another name for a waiter. How old are you? They dont get paid much, depending on the restaurant but it is not over the state's minimum wage. Alot of servers depend on tips for extra income.

I am a server. I live in Florida and we get paid $3.67 an hour plus tips. Yes, you can wait tables and make money. It is all based on the generosity of the people you are waiting on. Tipping is based on how well the service is. Please don't tip less than 15%. I am a single mother providing for myself and my daughter with only my income. If you come into a restaraunt and have a $50 bill, please leave a $10 tip. Most people don't realize that what you leave as a tip is what is going to feed your server's family or keep the electricity on.

A server is the same as a waiter/waitress. They make very little in wages, sometimes only $2.10 or so and they depend on their tips to make enough.

Servers are the ones who brings you the food....
server....get it?
Waiter/Waitress is an older term.
Servers are the ones who also put up with all the crappy behavior the public has to offer.
They SHOULD earn $200,000 per/year.
But instead depend upon the proper tipping etiquette of strangers.
