I think racism not only still exists but is getting increasingly ferocious! As a person of color, I am personally experiencing the worst racism of my life from White people. I live in Central NY, and even though the city where I live has more than 20% of Black people, when I walk out of my home, I see mostly White people going to the malls, shopping at the supermarket, etc. It seems pretty segregated and WEIRD! I relocated here from my hometown Hampton Roads, VA and ironically, in the South, I felt more comfortable and more at home. Where I live in NY now, seems pretty segregated and for me personally, very racist. Just a few days ago, me and my Mom was pulling into a supermarket parking lot and I saw a White woman park in front of us with a mini lynch rope tied to her rearview mirror! It was swinging in the very front of her car for everyone to see. I was shocked out of my head. Now, in my 16 years of living in the South, I never in my life saw something that racist and hateful, but here in NY, I saw it.
So to answer your question, yes, I think racism is tragically alive and kicking in modern-day society.

I think racism is dying in the Western World. The religious terrorists in Iraq and other countries in the area are another problem, though.
