My family has a big problem with me listening to 90's music & they think I shouldn't listen to it because it's in the past. & I really get insulted for listening to Aaliyah since she's deceased. Is it OK for me to listen to that? & I lose a lot of friends & people think I'm crazy for listening to older music. & when I'm alone & listening to older songs, I feel bad, like as if I'm committing a crime. But I really like 90's slow, groovy R&B.

They are just jealous because you have good taste. You like what you like & you probably don't try to fit in with the crowd.

I'm only 26, but I still listen to 80's grooves because it takes me back to a happier time in my life, childhood. I'll take Phyllis Hyman over Beyonce any day. I'll even throw in some 60's & 70's, just for good measure! How many women in their mid-20's will listen to the SOS Band, Odyssey, Frankie Beverly & Maze, or the Blackbyrds openly in public? Well, you can count me as one.

If the 90's jams are what floats your boat, s-hit keep on groovin' & KEEP IT REAL. Besides, if it wasn't for Aaliyah, Ciara wouldn't have a career. Those songs aren't old... THEY ARE CLASSICS (even though the 90's were only yesterday)!

Let me leave you with a quote from the O'Jays: "I love music just as long as it's groovin'."

Not at all. I am listening to music way back before 90's and I am not that old I am in my mid 20's. I listen from 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Personally, now a days the music are just you know "whatever'

So ignore those people that thinks you're weird because you are not. It just so happened that that's your preference of music.

Of course not. My ipod is filled with new and old music. If u want 2 listen to 90's music and look back on the good old days ain't nothing wrong wit dat. I always listen to aaliyah she is my favorite singer i grew up on her. If those friends don't like that music who cares. Just try to give their music a chance to. In fact i'm listening 2 the boy is mine by brandy and monica right now. It's ironic that u ask that question.

You are who you are other people should respect that. You listen to certain types of music for YOU not for them.....you play what you want.....you are not here on this earth to please them.....obviously your soul yearns to hear songs from the 90's....hear what makes you feel good....tell them to back off & leave you alone that this is what YOU want to listen too. If friends are upset with you because you listen to Aaliyah then they are not really your friends.....real friends Accept people for who they are. If they are judgeing you on your music....they will continue to judge you throughout your life. Tell them to back off. I think some of the better music is the old stuff anyway. I still listen to music from the 70's & 80's & 90's. Just do your old thing.....Just be yourself !

No, not at all. I listen to Aaliyah all the time to this day and I don't care what anyone thinks. In fact, she's my favorite singer for life! I love her voice and she was the smoothest dancer on the planet! No one could ever take her place! As for other 90's music, I still listen to that too. It's nothing wrong with it. Listen to what you like. It's what makes you who you are! You got to be true to yourself!

Nope, I listen to music older than that. 90s had some good music and you can listen to deceased artists. Their music lives on and I love Aaliyah.

No. I listen to songs from the 90s more than I listen to current music sometimes. My MP3 player is filled with it. 55% of the music on it is from the 90s including Aalyiah. Listen to what you like.

Hi Dinky! I find it hard to believe that people would think you're crazy for listening to 90's music when millions listen to oldies that range clear back to the 50's. Don't worry so much about what everyone else thinks...if you enjoy the music and don't try pushing it on to someone else, listen to it! I listen to 60's and 70's music all the time and alot of those people are dead as well...enjoy your life!

There is nothing wrong with you!

When I was 16 {9 years ago}, people at school thought I was odd for liking music ranging from the 1950's > now.

But that's what I like, and no one can stop me listening to the music I love.

Just be yourself - and enjoy your music. If your friends think it's wrong, then maybe you have the wrong sort of friends.
