your not being fare to Kyle maybe he needs to get rid of you. I cannot stand my best friends neighbors they are crude and rude and annoying and I am always trying to get them to move but I learned a long time ago no matter who they are friends with or even who their neighbors are it has nothing to do with our friendship at all because my friendship is with them not who ever else they are with. Be Kyle's friend and stop thinking so highly of yourself that you are better then others

It's easy to separate from a friend. It's a gazillion times harder to keep one. If you stop putting effort into it, the separation will happen naturally enough. If you politely say, "No thanks" to invitations, there will soon be nothing to separate from. If he asks what's up, then just be honest and tell him you need a break from his friends because you're not comfortable because of (their lifestyles, bossiness, pushiness, risky behaviors, or their (moral, ethical) choices, or tendency to bowl) or whatever it is bothering you. Do no friendship maintenance, and you will soon be free.

Don't hang with any of the people that annoy you. If Kyle needs to be near those annoying ones, refuse to see him with them in tow. Make your choice and stick to it....

Change is good. And sometimes if you just let it go, you don't have to say anything. You will just drift apart.
If it does come down to it, just be honest about it. Say you understand that he is friends with them but its just not for you anymore. People grow and change. Good Luck

You do have a SEVERE problem if you want to SEVER a five-year friendship. However, if you can't stand his friends, be honest and tell him why you can't be friends any more. Good luck.

Tell him how you feel. He might still be friends with them because he thinks you are.

If that is your strategy - rejecting a friend simply because you don't like some of his friends - you soon won't have any friends left
