..and never mind that there would be a 'civil war' because there has been one going on for months....
and few here in US government care anyway.

Iraq PM: Country can manage without U.S.

Associated Press ; July 14, 2007

BAGHDAD - Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki shrugged off U.S. doubts of his government's military and political progress on Saturday, saying Iraqi forces are capable and American troops can leave "any time they want."One of his top aides, meanwhile, accused the United States of embarrassing the Iraqi government by violating human rights and treating his country like an "experiment in a U.S. lab." During a press conference, al-Maliki shrugged off the progress report, saying that difficulty in enacting the reforms was "natural" given Iraq's turmoil. We say in full confidence that we are able, God willing, to take the responsibility completely in running the security file if the international forces withdraw at any time they want," he said.

Americans WANT !!

excuse me 'experts'
but this will not be first time al maliki has addressed the fact that the US can leave! Fact is, the last time he offered this, he also complained becaue the US REFUSED to give his military/police personnel the same type weapons as they were using themselves! TjIs isn't a matter of cut and run.I'm surprised you don't see it. The Middle East are coming together as never before. In fact, history informs us that these people can fight at 8 AM, stop for lunch, talk and then proceed to kill each other.
So don't sell them short. They do NOT approach their issues the same as we do. They are DIFFERENT. PERIOD.
and we will lave. We'll be out of there BEFORE next March.
Let's just see how things progress ...

I must laugh
No we don't need "permission" to leave Iraq. However, the president has already confirmed that we will leave of they want us to. Well, if I'm telling you you can leave when you want to, I'm inviting you to take your behinds OUT of my country, and yes I drive my own vehicle and I pay whatever the price is for gas. I do the same regarding anything else I buy...shrimp, oysters, lobsters, cognac, lettuce, tomatoes, etc. Whatever they cost is what I pay.

"they've" who is 'they'? He said, "they can leave anytime they want"? He did not ask them to leave. And wanting to leave, does not mean we should. Everyone wants our troops home, and safe, but that does not mean it is a good idea to do so.

In case you didn't realize it. We don't need anyone's "permission " to leave iraq.

And no, contrary to liberal propaganda, there is not a civil war going on. There are two groups of extremists fighting trying to take over the gov't. The majority of iraqi's are behind the gov't they elected.

If we leave, we would essentiall be handing over the gov't to one of those extremist groups, which would in turn, give them a revenue stream (from the oil fields) in the near future.

They would use that revenue to do damage to other nations, including ours.

It is clear, we can not allow that to happen.

Psssssstt. We're not leavin' til the job's done. Get over it. If the democrats win in 2008 they won't leave either. They say they will in order to fool you into voting for them, but they have an adult's understanding of the situation. They just keep it from you. Makes you feel a little foolish, doesn't it?

Was any of they, General Patraeus? It should be interesting, can't wait to hear the official reply. I can't wait to see how he double-talks his way around this one. More importantly what is it going to do for his support from his own party in congress?

Well that's a big lougie that Al-Maliki just hocked in Bush's face.

I agree with Argle, Bush will just ignore it. Like he does everything else he doesn't like...

I'm not sure he'll even address it directly himself. He'll probably leave it up to Snow to take the heat - and make up the BS.
