It's so irritating and confusing. My height ranges 5'6.5" to 5'9" mainly averaging at 5'7.75". I'm average. There are guys I know who say they are 6" but they are actually the same height as me and guys who say they are 5'8" are actually shorter than me.

I feel like even though we are all speaking in feet and inches, we all must be using different measuring tape.

its an ego thing, that hurts nobody and makes the person feel better about them selves. please give the guys a break, you sound very young as you mature with time things like this you will not even give a split second thought to

I always admit that I am 6 ft. 1 inch. I have never lied about it.
If you can vary your height from 5'6.5 to 5.9, why can't guys do the same? You may have met them on their short days and your long days.

You have not met me.I dont lie most of the times.Atleast not to girls.
I am shorter than others but their there are still many people who are shorter than me.
There are people who lie. But when you know the truth why you are so angry about it.
Remember you cant make everyone say the truth.

Your height should not be changing that much. Either you are not measuring correctly or you need a new measuring tape. Maybe the guys you are referring to are having the same problem with their measuring tapes.

I always say my maximum height...I lose about 0.5 inches from morning to evening every day (back trouble) and I can lose about 1 inch in a day if I walk around a lot. I get it back during the night, but I'm lying about my height if you ask me at 9pm...

I've always said I was 5'4.5, what the point with lying? Maybe guys feel intimidated by women taller then them, or they think being taller makes them appear more masculine.

I don't know. Personally I don't. I'm 5'0'' and would love to be even shorter =D (Not that there's anytihng at all wrong with taller people)
Maybe they want to be (or seem) taller or maybe it has to do with the shoes they are wearing or hair, hats, etc.

i lie about my height all of the time..only cuz im really self conscience about it..im 5'7 3/4 but i always say 5'8 because majority of the people in my family are tall 5'9 and above on the womens side of the family..so i feel kind of bad inside as silly as it sounds...

Well, I am an average 5'4"...but I can tell you why my DH lies, well let's say, adds on...that sounds better...He has six brothers...all are taller than him, so he adds an extra inch.
They all lie about their weight..but me...I never lie....I just never weigh myself...why would I won't too...I know when I am fat, so that would be depressing,,,and when I am just right, I don't even think about it.

Well I have no need to lie about mine, I am 5'2", I am SHORT! Now my exhusband is 5'9" and by the time we divorced he claimed to be 6 foot tall. HIs best friend is 6'2" he called him a liar infront of a bunch of his friends... it was sooooooooooooo funny!
It's ALL EGO!
My new husband, is 5'10", he's never said he's any taller than that.
