Secular refers to the idea that you prefer separation of church and state and believe religion is best kept out of policy decisions as far as possible.Progressive means you are for progress,it's the logical opposite of conservative. The two put together means you believe the best way to achieve progress is to rely on humanistic value's as opposed to holding on to religious dogma's from the past. The term is mostly used by right wingers ,Bill Reilly,in a lame attempt to demonize liberals by claiming they want to take Christmas away or ban Christianity from society.

By Secular Progressives, I believe O'Rilley means those who believe in the separation of church and state, as well as those who support progress. Although, since I heard directly from the man's mouth that the character he plays on the O'Rilley Factor is "all an act," I really don't think any intelligent person should be paying too much attention to anything he says.

A progressive, as the name suggests, is someone who seeks progress -- meaning change, in a specific direction.
Secular means someone whose agenda is not religiously motivated -- in other words, acting for social or political reasons, and not acting based on religious dogma or agenda.
So, a secular progressive is someone who wants to see changes occur (generally an increase of civil liberties) because of a desire to improve social and political conditions, and they are not acting for religious reasons.

My socialist studies teacher defined liberals as "welcoming change" or "progressive" and conservatives as "afraid of change"
I had to translate that as liberals favor trashing our way and replacing it with socialism
Secularism is excluding the consideration of religion from decision making
So,
Secular progressive is properly defined as
God hating country destroyers

Exactly, it is a term invented by Bill O'Reilly.
The only books conservatives sell these days critique liberal policies by associating them with pop culture.
This wasn't how it used to be. We used to have arguments over the amount of welfare to spend on the homeless, how much arsenic to allow in our waters, if education can be funded by vouchers, what taxes to increase or benefits to reduce for social security. George Bush and the previous Republican congress destroyed all that by making a mockery of conservative policies and instead becoming so thoroughly corrupt and obviously dishonest that Bush is an object of hatred and ridicule in his country and the world. Go to the bookstore, book after book about violations of the constitution, torture, the incompetence and lying about the war (take your pick), the violations of our constitution, the scandal of the week from Katrina to firing of lawyers. What conservative would try to remove habeas corpus? These are not really liberal vs. conservative critiques these are freedom vs. dictatorship critiques. What conservative thinks it is a great idea to tell reporters the names of covert agents?
So, conservatives have resorted to the following stories: look at Snoop Dog and how he writes about women or the police: aren't liberals bad? It's a completely inane, absurd and ridiculous argument that only the pathetic remains of a Grand Old Party can muster.
