There is NO cost for a security clearance in the civilian or government worlds. The background checks are what cost money. The type of check, and thus the cost varies widely depending on what the clearance is for. ANY number you receive without more information has NOTHING to do with your situation.

I got security clearance for House of Commons through my agency, but I don't hink it cost anything. It just takes six weeks of waiting before all investigations are complete and you get the clearance

admin fees could be anything but the clearance itself is not for sale

Security clearences are done by employers in either government or private sector, and they pay for it, not you.
