When you use PayPal, you have to follow the rules to the letter or you may not be covered by the buyer's protection program. There are plenty of scammers out there that know all the rules and how to abuse them to rip people off.

Before you make any eBay purchases with PayPal, you need to check the amount of buyer protection coverage that is being offered. It is stated under the seller's feedback. Depending on seller's account status, you may get $2,000, $200 or $0 protection. Make sure your purchase price will be covered.

On your first purchase, it appears that you just sent money to the seller directly. This type of transaction of not eligible for buyer protection. There really isn't much you can do about it.

On your second purchase, PayPal honored the buyer protection, but your purchase price exceeded the protection amount. There is not much you can do about that either.

It is interesting to note as a seller, PayPal will take the entire amount out of your account, but they only refund $200 to the buyer. I haven't noticed this before and it doesn't seem right.

In the future, always fund your purchases with a credit card, even if there are funds available in your PayPal account. It gives you one more line of defense against fraud.

I'm sorry to hear to had so many problems on eBay. Your message got cut off about the third item. Take a look at my website for some useful tips. I have a lot of information about eBay fraud and tips for buyers - http://www.newlifeauctions.com

samual_adams misunderstands both PayPal and credit card protections. I have a PayPal account that has NEVER been linked to a credit card. Even if it was, the item WAS NOT purchased with the credit card. It was purchased with funds from the PayPal account, even if PayPal charged the card to fund the account. Your dispute is not with the card, PayPal, or E-bay. It is with the seller.

When your registered for a Paypal account, you had to enter a credit/debit card. You are protected against fraud via your cards fraud protection through your bank. As long as you filed a complaint with Paypal and it is documented, your bank is entitled to reimburse you funds lost. At least they did at Bank of America and National City Banks. Do not waste your time fighting with Paypal. THey are now owned by Ebay and you will get nowhere. Go directly to the banks after filing the initial complaint.
