There is virtually no information on the "Greenie beanie". a plastic bowl shaped hat with a flat surface on top a little larger than a silver dollar that came out around 1966. The grass seeds in the flat surface would be watered and - alas.. grass would grow out of it and you would wear it on your head!
Or how about those colered fizzie tablets? (i.,e purple was grape flavored, yellow was lemon)

Don't remember the greenie beanies (thank heavens!;) but sure wish Fizzies would make a comeback. They were around when I was a kid in the 50's and I remember them when my kids were kids in the 70's. Bring em back!

I SO remember "fizzies"! They came in a flat package that was foil on one side and you popped them out into a glass of ice water and watched them fizz! They came in root beer, orange, lemon-lime and my favorite, grape, and possibly more flavors. They were treated like soda by my mom-none til you had a glass of milk! I remember being about 6 or 7 years old, sitting at a little-kid sized picnic table with my next-door neighbors and making fizzies and seeing how many we could drink down before our moms caught us-circa early 1960's. Thanks for reviving a long-lost memory!

Not familiar with the greenie beanie, but I do remember the fizzies. We used to pretend they were Alka-Seltzer.
For those who wish to indulge in sybaritic pleasures, there are fizzie tablets for the bath (Not to be imbibed, but to drop in the tub under the faucet for a delightfully effervescent bath) They come in various shapes and scents. Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, what a fun bath that is!

i remember the greenie beanie. that's why i stumbled on to this link. strange that i can remember an esoteric toy from the 60's but cant remember what i had for lunch yesterday.
as for fizzies. not a year would go by when a rival high school would dump cases of them into another's swimming pool.

I only remember the fizzies; candy I got for children; the kids made me try some...they were tiny candies that popped and fizzed like nothing before, and I only tried them once! In the '70's or so...
