Your entire thesis depends on the assertion that al-Qaeda and Iran are not cooperative partners which is absolutely false. The rest of your argument is therefore invalid.

Well at last count but that was a couple hours ago so it has probably changed four or five times since then: Let's the lastest.
The Sunni are fighting the Shites,
The Sunni and the Al Quaeda who used to be big buddies are fight each other.
Iran is standing on the side lines erging them all on making a bundle selling all sides weapons and explosives.
And we are caught right in the middle getting shot at from all sides.
Sounds kind of like we parked right in the middle of a 3 sided civil war doesn't it. !!!!!!!
And for the responder talking about the Turks and Kurds. The Turks aren't like us. They don't play around If Iran tried to take over Iraq after we leave it will most likely bring the Turks into it and I said those folks don't play around when it comes to war. They take care of business.

If you look at the actual defense department studies, they find less than 10% of the violence is from Al Queda. Bush is simply lying when he says we are in Iraq because of Al Queda.
The largest force that is killing our troups are, oddly enough, the Sunnis, who want Iraq for themselves. They fear a shea take over of Iraq because the sunnis are in the minority. Again, Bush is lying when he says Iran is the major cause of our fatalities (the shia are a major cause of sunni casualties).
We are actually fighting everyone. In Lebanon we are supporting Al Queda elements for reasons to complex to get into. In Kurdistan, we are simultaneously supporting the Turkish government that sometimes peruses raiding Kurds into Northern Iraq, while at the same time supporting the Kurdish government. We give aid to Pakistan and nuclear technology to India (two countries that are currently fighting over the Kashmir). Yet, we threaten Iran for its comparatively small nuclear program but remain China's major trading partner, indirectly supporting China's export of military arms to Iran and North Korea.

We're not fighting Iran, we're fighting the Ayatollah aristocracy of Iran. If you had you'e head on straight you might know that. But I don't mean to be rude, sorry :)
What we're fighting is the Islamist fringe of Middle Eastern ideology, the 'foundamentalists' as Irshad Manji calls them. They are both Sunni and Shia, rogue forces and in powerful places.
It's not any easy enemy to understand, because like in Vietnam, we're fighting an idea--not a people.

You have got to be kidding with that post. Al Quaida has many enemies, who cares if they are an enemy of Iran? Iran's playing with fire and threatening the free world with nuclear weapons, personally I don't think we need to let that happen.

Just wait until the Kurds and the Turks get into it. The Kurds have the richest oil fields in Norther Iraq. And where there's oil mixed with religious fanatics, there's lots of trouble.

BS!!!!!!!
Thew enemies of Iran are the US and Israel. All Muslims stick together against their enemy, it's only when they aren't fighting with their enemy do they fight each other. They are a warring race.

Right, we're subjugating Iraq and stealing their oil, that's why it's
costing us 400 billion a year and 3500 lives so far. Please spare me the America the imperialist crap, the Iraqis are killing themselves, with no help from us but a lot of help from Iran and Syria. It never ceases to amaze me what people can be talked into believing

We're fighting everyone who is attacking us.
Which sometimes means insurgents, and sometimes means militia, and sometimes (rarely) means terrorists.
Iraq is involved in a multi-part civil/sectarian war. We picked one of the factions, and we fighting against everyone else.
