if you use excel enter this into the cell

=sqrt(7/8)

answer is 0.935414347

to figure out the cube root enter
=3/4 (or .75) in cell a1
in cell a2 enter
= a1 ^ (1/3)

this since the cube root is the same as 1/root. this will work for any root.
