When a woman is submissive is to a man, it is that she does everything he tells her to do. She is COMPLETELY controlled by the man.

It means she put the man's thoughts and needs before herself. It's actually in the Bible -
"Ephesians 5:22-24
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
That's not to say that women have no rights......its just that we should let our men be men. Thumbs down me if you want - but really give it some thought.

If she is always submissive -- that she has no self respect. If she is occasionally submissive -- that she is flexible, willing to negotiate, with him.

it's more than just the usual stuff (like asking the bf to hammer the nail into the wall and pretend to be naive and dumb). it's that she gves up her self esteem, her independence and follows all orders and checks back with him when being asked for her opinion. sometimes it's also physical, that she takes all his crap. but some girls (and their bfs) like that, and even though it sounds sick and even though I would not be turned on by a girl like this I could imagine that there are relationships like this that last longer than 3 months.
