I agree with Mee0129 that kids should wait when they are older to handle the consequences. What i can add is that once kids are old enough it is wise for them to know the dangers out there with sex, especially unprotected sex

Yes of course it is! Pleasure is a spice of life, learning healthy and responsible ways to enjoy your body is a wonderful part of life and it causes no harm to any one. What causes harm is the ignorance of primitive folk, this ignorance leads to irresponsibility and thus danger. We are an advanced people, we no longer need to protect teens from teen pregnancy, male birth control with out side effects is already being used around the world. We know know that an open sex life is the best way to screen for STDs and control them. It is also clear that providing safe environments for children to have sexual encounters is the best way to protect them from other dangers. It has also been made clear that prohibition doesn't work for the majority of people. So, In every way you can thin of, sex is good for children. It is good for them to learn about on of the most important aspects of their life. What better then to learn from a responsible older person? In experience leads to terrible sexual encounters, while experience leads to bliss. You know your child isn't being taken advantage of, when they are under the protection of your home. You know that they don't have STD's when you screen partners, and they know that they can trust you with information, because they know that you wont try to control their lives and you will not betray their trust. Yes, sex is good fro children, learning the difference between sexual pleasure, and romantic love is important, and being allow to experience them separately is fundamental. No one needs to have the dangers of equating love and sex explained to them. Why? Because most every one has experienced this problem. What if we could clear up this complication by defining sex as a physical experience and love as a mental experience. The difference between love and lust or romance and infatuation. They would understand when they finally experienced romance with some one they loved, and know that it is not the same as the feelings of lust and pleasure they are free to experience. Really isn't ignorance and inexperience at the root of most problems? We know the solution to sexual problem is sexual openness, yet we still allow primitive people to keep it closed, but why? We didn't have the advanced society we have today, prohibition was a good way to control sexual problems, then, but today it is one of the worst ways. We are living in a higher society and we need to set higher standards. Telling kids to stay away from sex and sweeping the dirt under the rug doesn't cut it any more. Eliminating the problems with technology and policy is the way the set a higher standard for an evolving society. When trying to protect children is hurting them more then helping them, it is time to change the protection plan.
Sex is good, there are problems around sex that are bad, but we can deal with them, and it is better to deal with them then to try and ignore them. So yes, sex is good for children, and having hand on sexual education is the ideal way to help them grow as individuals. It is also the best way to protect them from the dangers of sex.

Personally, I think kids are too young to be having sex. They should wait until they are responsible enough to handle the consequences.

No it's not good for young kids. They don't fully realize the implications of having sex so young (STDS, emotional, prenancies).
