How do i go about getting a patent for my idea. i have started selling the product but i need to patent before somebody steals it. is there a website and how long does it take before the patent is offical.

If you're in the US, go see the local Small Business Development Center (google search). They will help, and their services are free.

If you have already sold it, shown it or promoted it, you rights to a patent have been obviated.

Your product is in the public domain now. You can go ahead and patent it, but you have zero protection from anybody that says they saw or purchased it before you initiated the patent process.

You need a patent attorney. It is a long and expensive process... and your idea is not even protected too well, as it can be changed just slightly.

You are better off just copyrighting it.... and sell as many as possible ASAP.
