My aunt was laid off after working over twenty year, ever since she was 17 she has worked. Yet she was told unemployment was limited to six months, no chance for an extension, so she had to take a crappy job just to have an income. Yet a lazy welfare pig who has never worked a day in their life can collect indefinitely, especially if they keep popping out illegitimate kids. Shouldn't a person that has worked (and was really trying to find a good job) be entitled to at least the same a some lazy slob that refuses to work?

(And by the way, she was laid off because the place she worked for went out of business. She had trouble getting a job because places said she was "over-qualified", meaning they did not want to pay for her knowledge and experience.)

map - Well that is my point. My aunt worked since she was 17, unemployment capped at 6 months. A welfare pig that never worked collects 5 YEARS? Why don't they cap at only 6 months?

Because the liberals think that those of us that work should foot the bills for those that refuse to.

Because the baby is American and they now have "qualified" dependents. Isn't that a hoot! First, I think the issue of Dual Citizenship needs to be addressed. US law should make it manditory to formally renounce your American Citizenship to enjoy citzenship and residence in a foregin country. Then to come back you have to meet the same rules as any alien applying for residence or work in the US. Next, anyone who pays rent to a landlord who is paying property taxes or anyone who owns a house and pays property taxes should be entitled to send their kids to public schools no matter want. As far as the welfare system, I'm going to stand by the views I've previously expressed. We need to break the back of this system. EVERYONE in America needs to shack not (not marry) a girl and breed like rabbits. Then stay home, watch Oprah and Dr. Pill and collect as much welfare as you can, get Section 8 houses, housing stamps, etc. If 30 or 40 million more people do this, you'll break the system in half. You may also put a crimp in war efforts, financing of new weapons systems, etc. Let's put 30 or 40 million more on this sytem -- white people if we can -- and you and your girlfriend take a 10 year vaction with pay, courtesy the tax payers. This welfare system can only hold so much saturation. Reach over 100 million and there wont be enough taxes to finance it. If there is, then lets get it up to 200 million, by that point in time the system will break. True story, everyone! A friend of mine spent 3 months in Guatamala and people there told him they wanted to come to America for the FREE MONEY. True story.

The answer is simple - if you know about life.

First - the unemployment INSURANCE is paid by workers and the employer ... it is an INSURANCE - but;

With Welfare - you turn over all your rights to the government THAT CREATES MONEY ... ALL IT HAS TO DO IS PRINT MORE OR PRETEND IT ALREADY EXISTS.

To continue those on welfare is but a push of a key or the printing of a few more bills that cause inflation and/or etc. - wherein,

Insurance companies have to pay out in accordance which is paid in to them.

can you see the difference????

Hope this answers your question - my children always make play dollar bills to play games with - they exchange them amongst themselves to have others do their chores ... therefore they can play games with their money in hopes to win more than the others - so that the others can do their chores as well.

Peace;

Please, enough with the stereotypes about welfare and the people on it. They were out of date 10 years ago. What people traditionally refer to as welfare isn't a lifetime pay out. It's capped at 5 years and there are work requirements.
Unemployment is structured differently. You're given credit for time worked with caps that vary from state to state.

Your information is very dated. Welfare changed 10 years ago, it has time limits and work/school requirements (I'll let someone more knowledgeable post the details).

As for the difference between unemployment and welfare, they're designed for different things. If your aunt continues to not find a job and runs out of money, she may qualify for welfare. Hope you don't start calling her "welfare pig".

The problem with welfare benefits is that typically people on them have been classified with a permanent disability or something along those lines. This means there is no way of forcing them back to work unless its determined that they are not permanently disabled.

Personally, I say cut all welfare payments to anyone who is not a vegetable.

FYI - Welfare benefits are typically a state jurisdiction. This is not a federal issue, but mainly a state issue. The state government determines how the welfare benefits are distributed.

The law expects that people who were working will continue to work. It does not recognize that the jobs are not out there anymore.

Welfare was designed to provide for women caring for children. The unintended consequence is that boys who are raised without fathers join gangs because they need to belong to a group and there is no male influence in their homes. That is why there is so much crime.

The poor are a surplus class that we only need to fight our wars. But, that's why we keep them poor, so they will be willing to fight our wars.

All of this policy was written into law about 80 years ago. Things have changed, the laws have not.

And I wrote all that for 2 points.

Unemployment benefits are paid by you and your employer and limited to how long you worked. So the money is limited. Welfare is paid by tax payers who it would seem are suppose to have unlimited funds to support those on it!
