I'm buying a new PC soon...andi want to buy the graphics card seperate. Which of these cards will give me the most FPS in games like CS:S and Halo. I definately don't want to go over $280.. but i prefer to go under $250.

XFX GeForce 7900 GS XXX 256 MB($150)
XFX GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB ($270)
XFX GeForce 7950 GT 256 MB ($225)

Which should i get, or another recommedation.

Thanks.

for that price range not really going to get the extreme gamer card. The 8800GTS is close.

X1950Pro/x1950XT or 8600GTS are around the same speed as each other, but quite a bit slower then the 8800GTS.

The key will be the resolution are you running at. Higher the resolution, the more powerful video card you are going to have to have to keep the frames per second over 25-30fps.

U can't afford it. U can't purchase a top gaming card for less than $400.00. U need a PC with a mother board that has 2 PCIE slots so u can run 2 cards parallel. Have an good cooler to keep everything cool. Both of my cards have there own fans with an expanded heat sink on the dual processors

Your new PC will get outdated soon with those DX9 cards. Consider DX10 cards when buying a new PC.
8600GT = competitively priced w/ the 7900GS and may exceed 7900GS performance if overclocked.
8800GTS = easily beats the 7950 GT or any 79xx card except the dual core 7950 GX2

i would say either the $270 7950.. or go to newegg and look for at the midrange 8xxx series cards.. (linked one below that i thought was a decent deal)

Go with GeForce 8600 GT you can find it for under $250 and it is also DirectX 10 compatible.
