It happened on June 21st, 2007 at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom on a ride called Superman: Tower of Power (formerly known as Hellevator). The victim was a 13 year-old female named Kaitlyn Lasitter. Her feet were severed from above the ankle. Her right foot was reattached while her left food was not able to be saved. She has been released from the hospital and her family is suing Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

The ride had been inspected on April 5th, 2007 and was found to be in normal operating condition. It is unclear exactly when the cable snapped and when her feet were severed.

Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom statement on the incident:
"At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, 6-21-07, the Superman Tower of Power ride at the Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Park in Louisville, Ky. malfunctioned and injured a 13-year-old female, whose legs were severed above the ankle. The EMTs at the park were on the scene immediately and the girl was transported to UL hospital, where she is currently being treated. We have been in contact with both the hospital and her family. The ride has been shut down and will remain so until a full investigation has been completed. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide whatever assistance we can."

I heard approximately it presently after it got here about and started getting introduced on all the information websites and amusement park websites. it incredibly is a tragic and tragic twist of destiny. i do no longer understand if it replaced into something that would desire to've been prevented as a results of using popular inspections. a minimum of Six Flags replaced into sensible sufficient to close all of their drop tower rides, besides as Cedar common ultimate the drop tower rides at their (former Paramount) parks. I in basic terms observed a rfile no longer too earlier that inspections got here upon that a cable on the drop zone tower at Carowinds in NC replaced into deteriorating from the interior out. i'm questioning if that's what got here about at Six Flags. we will in basic terms would desire to attend and spot. and that i nonetheless have not seen any updates to regardless of if or no longer they have been able to reattach the females feet. i understand they have been going to attempt previously this weekend, yet have not heard the rest.

Yes. They were able to reattach only one of her feet! How awful! It was at Kentucky Kingdom. They shut down all these rides at all Six Flags temporarily, but they are up and running again. The company who built the ride has said that Six Flags used the wrong cable (the one that broke), and it is their fault. I have not heard what Six Flags has said back to that.
