As an actor, Tom Cruise has proven to be excellent in most of his films. His performance in Magnolia was incredible, as was the one in Rain Man. I think the problem is that he's such a mega-star. He is made to appear very strange by the entertainment media, so we automatically think he's some scientology wingnut, and that reflects negatively on our opinions of his acting. If you're asking about his acting, I like Tom Cruise; if you're asking about the public perception of him, I'm indifferent.

I think that Tom Cruise has become a little stuck up but i like his old movies some of his newer ones kinda sucked....for example : "war of the worlds".....

Dislike him. The infamous couch-jumping episode was cheesy. And it was bad enough that he literally controls Katie Holmes into a Stepford wife. But he is NOT going to shove his Scientology beliefs and anti-medication crap (re: the incident with Brooke Shields) down my throat like a preachy Catholic pastor (no offense to the Catholics on here, of course!)
Too bad, I thought he was awesome in Jerry Maguire.

How could I hate someone I don't even know? He has some thoughts and opinions that I don't totally agree with but I don't hate him I just disagree with him.

Both, neither??? He was a good actor...now he is just a whack job with a super ego. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to be his buddy or do him any favors.

i like him. i really do. but his nose and his holier-than-thou attitude get to me. and then his tirade about Post-Partum depression kinda pissed me off. I hate when people think they know everything, but dont have the BODY nor female parts to understand whats going on.
but generally I like him =)
