Aren't you stretching just a little bit??? To equate a natural disaster Hollywood style with chronic and continuous illegal immigration; is rather like saying that IF it was a matter of letting your child die of starvation or stealing a loaf of bread you'd steal the bread- So it's fine for people to just steal what they want, instead of working. Or, cuz I'd kill a person raping my wife, you can just shoot anybody you want, cuz after all, I'd kill too. Now, you want to argue immigration- fine. But, use reasonable arguments. Ya don't need Hollywood or cartoons. But, even in your scenario, the US would militarily invade Mexico. Military invasions have been part of human history since records have been kept, and invasions aren't illegal by any international standard.

I'd be illegal - they'd have every right to do whatever the hell they pleased with me. No matter how much I *****ed and moaned (ironically, they do this very thing with the Guatemalans - although as things now stand it's a pretty hypocritical situation).

Although I don't think Mexico has as much influence on the US economy as you think it does - if illegals were such a boon to the economy, woulndn't Mexico, the land they came from, be the richest country in the world by now?

this is a different issue- in the film "the day after tommorrow" we are talking about a catastrophie of global proportions-it affects everyone. in the normal world (outside of MGM) most asylum seeker (in the UK at any rate) are after benefits free health and housing. since they entered this country illegally we have had nothing but problems with them-they hang around the local town squares drinking and being a general nuisance-they walk around in gangs looking for other asylum seekers to do battle with in order to dominate their ground (this is our country by the way) and the ultimate insult-we give sanctuary to asylum seekers-free benifits and health etc-and how do they thank us for our generosity-they try to bomb us-it now goes beyond the christian approach of giving our fellow men shelter-send them all back home!!.
