They aren't warming to Barry at all. They just want ratings... as always. As more non-baseball folks interview him it may seem more favorable though.
Barry was such a big jerk for many years. Now that he has matured a bit, he is trying to recreate the lousy reputation he's earned.

I have neve rhad a problem with Bonds I think people use a double standard with him. Let me explain, Bonds doesn't like the media well neither did Steve Carlton, Bonds may have used steriods (he has never been found guilty or failed a drug test) but people call him a cheater and say he doesn't belong in the hall of fame, well Gaylord Perry admited to using a spit ball during his career and is a Hall of Fame player maybe we should take him out of the Hall and his Cy Young Awards as well. Bonds can be moody but he puts up numbers and if he doesn't fail any drug tests leave him alone.

You know, he actually has seem a little nicer. Like, during his interview with Peter Gammons during the Home Run Derby, he seemed friendly and nice. Then during the FSN Red Carpet Show on FSN, he signed autographs for fans and talked to the interviewers. Then during batting practice and the actual All-Star game, he was talking to other players and he had a smile on his face the whole time.
What's happening? Is this a sign of the apocolypse (sp?)?
Maybe, very slowly, Bonds can win me over. If he keeps up the good attitude, and even ADMITTS to using steroids, he might win me over.
Okay, so how many bad ratings am I going to get?

Even the agenda-driven national media can only dump so much hatred upon Bonds when he's on the cusp of making history.
Remember that teevee is all about the ratings. Baseball Tonight pulls in good ratings when it lets the pundits hate on Bonds, but it'll also pull in good ratings when it replays #755 and #756 over and over again. Yes, this is disingenuous and hypocritical, but SOP for television. But it can play both sides only so closely before it starts to reek, even to the average viewer.

To be honest, I think people are just getting tired of all the crap. The guy is going to break the record. We've all figured that out by now. We have to get used to it eventually. There's no proof that he took any HGH or steroids, unfortunately. So, unless something new comes up, his record will stand. It's silly anyways, it's very obvious that the majority of baseball players today took HGH or steroids at least once in their life. Heck, I saw it happen in my high school and at my college personally.

If everyone wouldn't have listen to the media all those years he may even be liked now. Instead of everyone listening to all the bad things they say about him if people would try to get to know him as a person they would see he is a good person
